Imagine reading something that would give you more ENTHUSIASM and ENERGY for your training than any pre-workout supplement on the market!
One of the very early versions of the THT book included a motivational section that you were to read before each workout.
Since my old laptop exploded almost a year ago, I don’t have that original version. So I have decided to re-write it to give y’all a kick in the butt before each and every training session!
The Muscle Hacker’s Creed – Read Before Each Workout
1 Today I WILL Give 110% – I WILL give it absolutely EVERYTHING I’ve got!
2 Today I MUST break all records that I have previously set – more reps and/or more weight.
3 Today I WILL make EVERY rep count! I WILL make EVERY set count!
4 Today I WILL work to the very last rep so that I don’t waste a single set.
5 Today I will focus on the RESULTS of my workout, not the pain of the process. I remember that pain is simply WEAKNESS leaving the body!
6 Today I AM achieving my goals. This single workout brings me one step closer, but only if I give it my ALL!
7 Today I will be ON FIRE!
8 Today I won’t give my body any other choice BUT TO GROW!
9 Today I will strain my potential until it CRIES FOR MERCY!
10 And lastly…Today my efforts WILL produce the results I desire, and I will become a source of INSPIRATION and MOTIVATION to all of those around me.
I would just like to stress to any of you still not keeping workout logs. You’ve no idea what you’re missing out on.
There seems to me to be a mental power that ONLY kicks in when your mind knows what target it has to hit. Knowing what you lifted on your last workout gives you a target to hit on every single set. Do it!
Train With Intensity!
Mark
Hi Mark,
Along the lines of your own:
* Today every last rep I can do will have a positive effect on my body and will make me look the way that I want!
(At the start of every training session I like to visulize the way I want to look and that the current session will get me one step closer to where I want to be) I find this creates a goal to aspire to and creates a drive to give everything in my training sessions.
Take it easy
-Darren
Great stuff, especially #6 – Visualization is a very powerful tool… see what you what to accomplish, imagine what it would feel like once you’ve accomplished it…. this helps me stay motivated.
Hi Mark,
Just one more 🙂
I like to use this just as I feel like I can’t complete another rep!
* Today 1 more rep WILL make my BIGGER and STRONGER!
Hope this helps
-Darren
My previous comment should have read, must have been ommitted due to html issue??!?!?
* Today 1 more rep WILL make my (insert muscle being trained here) BIGGER and STRONGER!
-Darren
Today my nutrition will be spot on even if it’s a cheat meal!!
Work out logs are a must, and there are so many great smart phone apps out there today that there is no excuse to not keep track of your progress.
Nice creed, I like it and will try and use it, it would make a great poster to hang in my gym.
Mornin’ Mark! I guess I’ve gotta bring a little bit of “me” to the MuscleHacker’s Creed!
Today I will lift hard for maximum effectiveness, but train smartly so I can do it all again tomorrow!
I’ve gotta say, this is possibly one of the greatest posts you’ve come up with in quite some time! Sometimes we need to refocus our brains to make sure our bodies follow suit in the gym!
Have a great day bud!
Adam
Scared you might not like, but here goes.
Today I shall not focus on what the scales tell me nor what I look like in the mirror but more of what my body is saying and what I know is good for me.
I shall train dirty and eat clean and be a happy positive approachable influence to be around.
I shall try to inspire others to join me!!
Thxs bud, have an awesome Thursday!!
Xox Weza
Today when my body says stop my spirit cry’s NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will maintain proper form to target the muscle groups I am working without injuring myself rather then cheating my way through reps
(1) Today I will train with perfect technique
(2) I will only chat before or after my workout, not during
What about something on diet and sleeping as these are two important aspects of lifting? Maybe something like:
Today I WILL eat SMART to feed my body so I can continue to reach my fitness goals.
Today I WILL get a full night’s rest so I can get up tomorrow and do it again!
Today I will track everything, push harder, feed better, and grow stronger.
Today I WILL be ON FIRE!
I have a few sayings that I love, here are a few that might fit:
Only the weak attempts to accomplish what he knows he can already achieve.
Impossible is a word to be found only in the dictionary of fools. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing, today I will push for the impossible.
“Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.” -Arnold Schwarzenegger
Don’t do your best, Do what it takes!
Pain is weakness leaving the body
Victory always starts in the head. It’s a state of mind. It then spreads with such radiance and such affirmations that destiny can do nothing but obey.
“For me life is continuously being hungry. The meaning of life is not simply to exist, to survive, but to move ahead, to go up, to achieve, to conquer.” – Arnold Schwarzenegger
The difference between dreams and accomplishments is purely desire.
Hope these help!
hey Mark,
One thing i always like to tell myself before i work out is ,
“Today i will UNLEASH the BEAST within me”
Great suggestions so far, guys! Keep them coming and I’ll update the creed tomorrow with the final 3! Thanks for your help 🙂
7 is the magic number. I like it. Weightlifting isn’t, and shouldn’t be made, more complicated than those 7 things. You cover what you’re going to give and what you’re going to do (pre-workout), reminders to make it count and finish strong (workout), and focusing on the results and the future goal you have set (post-workout).
Bravo Mark.
I’ll be adding all of these to my mindset before entering the gym. Another good one is: “I will check my daily BS at the door, and focus on making that one hour in the gym count for more than the other 23 in the day”
Move Through every rep slow and patiently, breath with every movement. Feel your Goal come closer as you push past your last limit. Look in the mirrior the next day and know you have no regrets.
Today I WILL Train like an ANIMAL, and eat like one too!
Excellent work Mark! I totally agree with keeping a lift log, when you see that you hit 11 reps last time, you damn sure know you’re going to do atleast 12 today! I always lift alone down in the dirty old basement, no music or distractions, just my mind and the weights. I use pain as my lifting partner who’s screaming at me to go one more rep when I feel I’m finished. When I hit this mindset, whether it’s the end of the first set or the last rep of the day I make myself get pissed off and give it the old “IF YOU WANT MY ATTENTION I’LL GIVE IT TO YOU” attitude.
Pain is not my enemy, pain is my friend who helps me achieve my goals.
I like to tell myself, “Today I will be stronger than I was yesterday” :’)
The originals per Total Anabolism:
1. I understand that each workout is an opportunity for growth. If I under-perform, I can NEVER get that opportunity back – I’ll always be 1 workout behind.
2.I will give it my ALL today! Anything less than 100% intensity is NOT an option.
3. I will look at my workout log and know hw many reps I have to beat BEFORE each set.
4. I can now see my body EXACTLY how I would Like it to be. Success today takes me one step closer to that dream!
5. When I feel like I can’t make progression on a given set, I will dig down deep and pull another rep out of me!
6. I will make EVERY SINGLE REP count!
7. I will make EVERY SINGLE SET count!
8. I feel STRONG today!
9. I will break all records today!
10. I won’t give my body any other choice but to GROW!
“Today I WILL Give it my all because I am not Guaranteed Tomorrow!!” Great Creed Mark!! Thank You!!
Hmm . . .
Today I will beat that monster that was me last week.
Amen to that Mark! When I started keeping logs, that’s when results came. I got stronger than ever, knowing the goals I have to beat!
Today might be my last day in the gym.
Let’s make it count and never forget it.
Something about keeping good bio-form.
Something about not feeling overawed, distracted, or influenced by “bigger” possibly synthetically enhanced individuals around me.
Something about sticking to the plan (logs).
The Creed is finished! I have taken on board everything you guys said and created the updated 10-point Creed! I love it. Read it before each and every workout. Thanks for your help! 🙂
Been there, doing that. Glad to see you are on board now too, Mark. 😉
