Ok, this is real. This is not a joke. If you drop an F-bomb while training, you’ll be stronger and knock out more reps. In fact, you’ll be about 8% stronger!

Yes, there are studies to prove it!

Think about this, when you stub your toe, or smack your finger with a hammer instead of the nail, what happens? You cuss! Loud! lol

Ever wonder why we are all the same in this regard? Why do humans all instinctively make this sound in the face of sudden pain?

Well, what we are unconsciously trying to do is mitigate pain by affecting our sympathetic nervous system with these words. And it works! I wonder does it help make a cutting diet easier too when we are getting shredded? lol

The first earlier study in 2009 (Dr. Richard Stephens et al) had 2 groups of people put their hands in ice-cold water. 1 group was only allowed to use neutral words while their hands were in there. The other group could swear. The group that used cuss words could hold their hands in the water for longer. They were successfully mitigating the pain!

In a more recent study called “Effect of swearing on strength and power performance”, the same researchers performed a strength test (hand-grip test) and saw an 8.2% increase in strength with subjects were allowed to use the word “Motherf**ker” as the pain kicked in.

Ok, I don’t necessarily want to encourage any of you to cuss and swear. But I’m saying that if you are already so inclined to do so, go ahead and do it! Turns out we are instinctively doing this for a reason. It helps make us stronger by reducing the experience of pain! Cool 🙂
