What do you think is the best-looking type of six-pack?
There are different levels of abdominal development.
There are different levels of body fat.
This leads to very different looking six-packs.
I’ve selected a few from around the web to show you what I mean. I want you to let me know what YOU think is the best-looking i.e. what six-pack would you like to rock most?
The “Weak-Pack”
The first is what I call the ‘weak-pack’. It’s little ab development coupled with slightly above 10% body fat. Here’s 2 examples starting with Eminem about 10 years ago.
The 10%er
This is a 10%er – Great ab development but not low enough body fat to make it look really defined.
The Fitness Model – 7-10%
This is a good example of a low body-fat with great abdominal development. It also exemplifies the ‘fitness model’ type look. This was my real motivation when getting started in the game.
The 6% Six-Pack
Very low body fat. Great ab development. Getting near professional bodybuilder competition levels now.
Pro Bodybuilder
Competing Professional Bodybuilder – 4-5%
Just to add that anywhere from 4% to 7% may look ultra-ripped, but I’ve been there before; it ain’t pretty.
I’m not saying the midsection doesn’t look great, but you’re extremely lean EVERYWHERE. Your face especially can start to look very bony. If you have to do it for a competition, so be it. But it’s just not a good look all year round in my opinion.
So, from the ‘weak-pack‘ to 4% body fat. What’s your favorite?

I’d go for the fitness level. Looks good and wouldn’t be as hard to maintain all year round as the bodybuilder type.
Well i like the 4 – 5% bodyfat, but thats only because i want to be a bodybuilder and compete. I already have a bony face so i dont care if it gets more bony lol 😀 .
The one for me would be the 7-10%er that is what my goal is, I have the dedication to the workout but the eating is my problem.
4 – 5 %! i want to look SHREDDED
Fitness model abs 7-10% fat which looks good all over the body. So far it’s proving unattainable for this near 40-year old.

At my current 20% bf I’d take Em’s weak pack any day! lol
I’m at 5% body fat at 77kg’s. Abs are not that visible at all, only when I really flex them. The fat that I do have on my body seems to be only around the waist, Also have protruding ribs due to the concave in my chest and scoliosis, I think thats as good as I’m going to get unless I can build the abs up some more. I’m an ecto at 6ft3 so very tall and very lean. I have been training the THT way for over 2 years now and gained 8kg’s. It’s been higher but I’m stuck now on 78kg’s. Working on diet and periodization. I will never give up!!
I have to agree that the fitness level is ideal. It would drive my girl wild.

I train hard in gym and do cardio but don’t do abs at all.

I would say the fitness module 7-10%er don’t know if a 49yr old can getting in that shape I’m trying not for the reason of attracting women be to better my health right now I’m battling my PSA level that keeps elevating working to get in shape to lower it ill now in Oct in My next test few men run into this problem its a battle not given up yet to all men stay strong and in shape with hard work I can bet all odds of being healthy and looking strong your friend sam
I’d say anything in the 6-10% range looks good with enough muscle mass behind it. Getting to the 4-5% range, you’ll look emaciated without some serious muscle. I’m around 9-10% and I think I look too skinny at my current weight. Another 10-15lbs would put me right at that fitness model level. Thanks for all your help Mark! Your advice has been invaluable in developing my new training style these past few years.

The 7% body fat fitness model looks good to me!
7-10% is best. Less than that reminds me of a cadaver I had to work with in Anatomy class. When the flap of skin/fat was lifted, everthing underneath could be seen. So to me the “cadaver look” is creepy. Not to mention the face is gaunt and the eyes look like they are bulging out. Very similar to a crack head.
Fitness levels 7 to 10.
The thing is i look exactly like the second picture you posted and i cannot see how to get to the next level. I’m eating well & exercising. Something must be finetuned but cant exactly get what…
