@Sammy. I think it's a fair practice if (1) You can genuinely recommend the product because you believe in it, and (2) It doesn't contradict your own teachings. Otherwise you just serve to further confuse people.
@Jeff. No don't wait. Grab it and start one of the cycles. You can seamlessly integrate with 4.0 when it comes out.

The guitar instruction websites do the same thing. The lucky part is that there is a small group of them who promote each others' products, but the products are quality and reasonably priced. As for bodybuilding, they seem to be more of the vermin variety, and they seem to often contradict their own training methods week to week.

@Bob. You hit the nail on the head. They couldn't care less about people's results. They all promote each other's products because they earn huge commissions on the sales. They call them 'joint ventures'. How do I know? I've been contacted by most of them. They offer like 60% commissions or more on sales of products up to $67. They give you a pre-typed email to send out to your mailing list. At over 25k people on my list, I'd make a killing from sending just one email out. Furthermore, they would then promote my book to their own mailing list. We're talking tens, if not hundreds of thousands of people being exposed to the sales page for my own book and theirs. I would make an absolute fortune in a very short period of time. But those guys are vermin in my book. Everyone needs to make money, but if you get it promoting products you don't personally believe in, you've sold out! On my home page I state clearly that I will NEVER sell out...and I mean it. A couple of years ago I had some ebook ads in my sidebar as sponsors. But people were asking me questions about the products and I felt that they were mistaking the sponsors for personal recommendations. Although I was earning some revenue from them, I removed them when I became aware of that. Although I don't earn as much as I could by not networking with those people, I like the fact that MuscleHack sends out a clear, effective, non-contradictory message to those who are willing to listen....and almost all of it's free. (But I've got bills to pay like everyone else, and a little girl who could spend all day in 'Toys R Us', lol. So I have to charge for some things. I think most people understand that).
Thanks.

Hey Mark,
It's nice to see that you are still handing us these programs. I've had each of your Total Anobolism programs and love them. I started to get into HIT a few years ago of and on but your programs seem to have that little extra push to them. I feel that you are the only one out there on the net that is not trying to drain us of all our money as well. The rest of these fitness guru's have completely seperate styles of workouts but yet promote each other on their own site. I like how you stick to your programs and help your readers while asking for nothing in return.

Thanks, everyone. You're all awesome!
@Darius. I've heard of Lulu before. I'll check them out again. I'm wondering what the cost would be. I'm sure they charge for creating the book as well as postage and packaging, so I don't want to put people off getting their hands on it.
@David. I'd love to have a blackberry app out there. I also want to get an android app out too since I'm pretty sure my next phone will be the Samsung Galaxy S2. I just need a developer who is willing to do it.
@Max Davies. None. If THT involved overtraining, people wouldn't be getting progressively stronger, which is the best test for overtraining. Body by Science is an awesome book, especially in its debunking of "cardio". However, I disagree with the protracted periods of recovery. My own HIT cycle involves 3 x full body workouts with 1 set to failure. People get bigger and stronger on it. Also, I include research in the book showing recovery being complete in as little as 36hrs. But it depends on how many sets-to-failure you do. What I think the program you are using indicates is that we don't DE-COMPENSATE as quickly as we once thought, but it isn't saying that accelerated results couldn't be had by increasing the frequency a little. Remember that both Arthur Jones and Mike Mentzer both used a 3-day a week HIT program early in their career and had amazing results.

The "like" button won't push for some reason, so LIKE LIKE LIKE!!! I can't wait to read it! The last one, and of course TSPA, have made such a difference in my training and how I feel. It's amazing! Can't wait to see what else is in store for us. Also, I think it's wonderful that you do this for free. That's one of the reasons I trust what you say. You're not trying to make a ton of money off peoples ignorance and insecurities...you just want to help, and that's amazing to me. Thank you!

@Max: I can't see how the THT workout (I just started 3.1) could be considered overtraining. Most body parts are hit with two or three exercises, with only two or three sets (to failure), with a whole week for recovery.

As for any musclehead magazine, my rule of thumb is to ignore them. Almost every bodybuilder featured in them uses steroids, so their recovery system is completely different. Not to mention, their main goal is to sell the supplements advertised across from every workout shown.

Mark,

Will any of this be integrated into a TSPA update? I will still be on that for a couple more months so I will have to wait to do THT 4.0

Thanks

Hi Mark

Looking forward to 4.0! I've read all the stuff you've put out and like your consistent approach to training and nutrition which you often back up with correct scientific reasoning and studies.

I've been training on and off for about 10 years and have experimented with the majority of workouts and exercises out there. I went through a phase of relying on Muscle & Fitness but it wasn't until I read Body By Science by Doug McGuff that my whole outlook changed, which is when I started reading your blog.

Myself and 2 training partners are now starting to see the same results from one 12 minute workout per week (as recommended by Body By Science and stemming from Jones' Nautilus philosophy) as we did when training hard 5 days a week.

I've noted you often refer to Jones when discussing HIT so my question is this:

What is the likelihood that the THT workout you recommend constitutes overtraining?

Would really appreciate hearing your thoughts and reasoning on this.

Kind regards
